Well I've got to pick between those two phones and I did my research and all in all they both stand equally at the moment. (the iphone has some apps that I want that the hd2 doesn't have while the hd2 has some applications that the iphone doesn't have). So I decided to base my decision on one very very important thing for me. - Voice control. I plan to control my phone through my bluetooth headset (backbeat 903). I've heard the iphone 3gs has some kind of voice control, and the windows mobile os also has voice control. But the question that is really important to me is - which is better? Whic has more features? Which is best used with a bluetooth headset? (for example backbeat 903).

Also does any of the two platforms have text to speech. (So I don't have to pick it up and pretty much operate it totally using voice and my headset)?

I've heard the microsoft mobile command voice and it sounds horrid, is there a patch/app that can make it sound .. more natural?

All in all which do you think is better the Iphone or HTC hd2.

Here's what I'll use the phone for (other than the standard "taking calls and writing sms-es" thing.

- Listening to mp3s - audiobooks to be precise
- Taking pictures and movies
- Writing a lot of writing using www.evernote.com
- Managing my daily tasks using www.rememberthemilk.com
- Writing emails
- reading books (pdf)
- reviewing notes with anki

Hi, just joined this community. I'm hoping someone will give me insight into which of the following phones are a good option?

The battery on my current long-standing handset (sony ericsson k810i) is slowly dying a lingering death (I'm lucky if it lasts a day now) and t-mobile sent me another phone just before Christmas - the HTC Hero/G2 Touch.. I've had this phone for nearly a week now and absolutely HATE it! The way it deals with contacts is a mess, texting is a laborious nightmare, especially the way it searches the contacts for names, and the battery life is just plain rubbish!

I will be sending it back in the new year but am now stumped as to what phone I should go for next. I'm thinking of the following options so if anyone has any experience with them please let me know whether you'd recommend this phone or not? I'm on a monthly contract.

Nokia 5800
Samsung Tocco Lite
LG GT500
Iphone (yeah right!)

I'm not bothered about a touchscreen but ideally I'd like it to have 3G and/or WI-Fi/GSM, 3.2mp+ camera and large screen, decent battery life (at least 2 days) and some internet access. But the most important thing is that it should be easy to text to people and make calls on!

I'm veering towards the nokia but a friend of mine has had to send four of those handsets back due to freezing problems. Has anyone had this problem too?

Looking forward to any recommendations please. :D

It is used but it was only activated for maybe a week. I didn't like the windows mobile system personally and opted to revert to my blackberry.

I am also open to offers outside of Ebay. If you would like the MEID/ESN number feel free to request it and I would be more than happy to give it to you so you can call VZW and ensure that it is not on the lost/stolen list.

I have AT&T service (pretty happy with it) and will be eligible to upgrade soon. I currently have a Motorola v365 (which is a very tough little tank of a flip phone with killer battery life) and a bluetooth headset. I also carry around a Palm T|X (for Office documents and my calendar) and a notepad (for task logging) to keep myself organized.

So, I'm looking at moving to a smartphone with this upgrade. The main thing is that I'd like to put a color-coded calendar with integrated tasks application and Office document editing on my phone. A full keyboard for entering information would be a plus. Beyond that is a bonus. So far, suggestions have been the iPhone, a Blackberry, or the Nokia e71x. Anyone have any experience with these phones? Any other recommendations?

Right then having just got my iPhone and having alot of fun with it and figuring the thing out I've been looking for a docking station. I got the proper Apple dock which is good but I'm looking for something for when traveling and I came across this Griffin Dock with Card reader

Anybody got or used this dock?

Know if the card reader can read compact flash cards over 2Gb?

Yes another post about iPhone 3GS.
I went into my local O2 shop and had a good little play with the 3GS and talked to the sales person a little about it and just want to get your take on what I can do ect.

My normal usage is just loads of txting, around 500-600 per month and I want to have unlimited surfing. Whats the best package on O2?
I've been told a business tariff with a unlimited txt blot on with works out around £45 I'm guessing from what I remember from my conversation with the sales assistant, I could be wrong.

Also want to know if this if insurance is included in this and if not how much is extra is that?

Also if I basically dont do any calls or anything and basically pay the minimum bill do I still get a free upgrade every year as the assistant said or only if I spend a certain amount over the yr on calls ect do I get a free upgrade to whatever is the latest iPhone?

Also any good iPhone communities out there I could join up to ask questions etc?

p.s. Also livejournal and flickr apps on it?

p.s.s. Also can i use a plastic pen to type on the keyboard? I have fat fingers and find it a little hard to type anything without pressing 2/3 letters on the k/b at the same time.

The complexity of modern mobile phones is leaving users frustrated and angry.

Some 61% of those interviewed in the UK and US said setting up a new handset is as challenging as moving bank accounts.

Compiled by mobile firm Mformation, the survey found 85% of users reporting they were frustrated by the difficulty of getting a new phone up and working. Of the 4,000 people questioned, 95% said they would try more new services if phones were easier to set up.

I can understand this to a certain extent. Phones are quite complicated, but that's because they are now complex bits of tech. Why isn't there an equivalent survey about computers being overly complex? Do you guys think phones are too difficult to use now? Have they lost their 'press one button to call someone' and 'press another button to end that call' appeal?

I know from numerous attempts to get my mum or dad to use a phone properly that the above survey has some merit; however, it's the same thing with trying to get my parents to use anything overly techy. Is this a reason to simplify things, or is is just a case of trying to pull everyone, albeit painfully, into the 21st century?

Hey there folks, I know a few of my friends are in here so hi to you guys.

Well then I'm coming up to the end of my contract on Orange contract in a few months and I wanted to start looking for a new phone.
I've been looking at the latest iPhone 3G that I got a chance to play with around Christmas time (as well as the iTouch)

Is there any other iPhone type phones that are coming up or that I should look at? Touch screen with screen pen or qwerty keyboard would be nice as I have pretty fat fingers and found it hard to use the iPhone & iTouch sometimes

Basically use my phone mostly for txting (400-500 per month min) but I would like to be able to surf the internet as well as well as connect up to any Wifi hotspots. Also want to be able to install applications & games for the phone too.

Hope this post is ok with this community, happy gadget playing.....
