I have. It's why I've ended up stumbling across this community! I just sent my brand new N97 back. :(

So I've been holding out for this phone a while as I'm due a new smartphone. And everything I read about it made me kind of excited. I'm not commited to the iPhone and never upgraded from my first gen phone.

Anyway, the reasons I sent the N97 back: firstly, I found it a headache to simply just hook up my gmail account with a regular push. The phone is a nightmare. It has an inbuilt enmail widget, but if you have more than, say, 30 emails in your account, when you hook it up to retrieve automatically, it just crashes. It downloads your entire account and it's too much to handle for the phone. Then it's impossible to use. I tried this three times and had to hard reset the phone. In the end, I set it to not retrieve automatically, but that was a major blackmark for me since the main reason I need a smartphone is email on the go. Was very odd. When the retrieval system is not hooked up, I was still able to get a little tone notification for my email, but the phone never updated my inbox. Ie. If I read the email in the meantime on my PC, it didn't reflect on the phone. Annoying. Especially since I was used to having a constantly refreshing email application on the iPhone.

Aside from that, generally, I was trying to get to grips with the phone and I was doing quite well. It's vastly different if you're used to an iPhone, but it's a cute phone. The pull out qwerty keyboard is a nice feature.

Then the phone just broke. :( The phone has a keylock button on the side. Quite flimsy. It just suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. So couldn't get into the phone AT ALL. It was ridiculous. And so frustrating after I'd spent 2 days trying to get the email right. Googled and found that someone else had the exact same problem and was only able to retrieve after draining the battery. So I did that and was able to get back in, but the homescreen no longer loaded and a hard reset was essential to get the phone working again.

So today I just sent it back. I just don't feel that a phone should be this much hard work. And I kind of have to love my phone and I was starting to get so frustrated I was hating it.

So I'm back to the drawing board for my next phone. I can't afford the iPhone 3GS and I feel it's pointless at this stage just upgrading to the 3G as I've heard the firmware update has slowed them all right down. Am looking at the Samsung Jet at the mo, but choosing a phone is harder than I would like and that's why I've been looking for communities where people might be discussing and recommending!
